Wing Chun Long Staff Techniques – Video From the Last Outdoor Hike & Training Seminar

Footage from our most recent Wing Chun training seminar hosted at Steep Rock Preserve in Washington, CT. We hiked into the park via the river trail, and found our way into the areas camp site. We set up camp and spent the day training Wing Chun Long Staff.  The traditional Wing Chun Long Staff is usually over 8ft long, but since this is too big to hike with, we all grabbed 5-6 ft. hiking sticks.

The methods of Wing Chun are simple, and extremely strategic, when applied to the long staff, it’s as simple as it gets. Just one large centerline, and then the reading of power changes.  In the video, you’ll see some clips of the drills we covered and some training skills.  Most of the members there were quite new at our drills, so this was the first time they ever trained them.  The Long Staff methods are reserved for instructor level disciples and those with experience in two handed pole arms. Sharing these skills with newer practitioners should give them a boost in their understanding of the art, and help prepare their strength for when we arrive to that portion of the curriculum.
