In this video release, I’m sharing some candid thoughts and commentary about the footage of Grand Master Yip Man. This footage was taken only a few weeks before his passing, and is a beautiful piece of archival history for those that study the Yip Man Wing Chun Lineage.  Fast forward 50 years from the date this video was filmed, and you can still observe a striking likeness in form design through his many disciple lineages. When I first came across this footage 20 years ago, I thought it was a wonderful confirmation that what were practicing at my Sifu’s school “Becker Wing Chun” was exactly like what Grand Master was showing in his film.

No matter how good or bad you the footage is, or his form presentation might be, this man is responsible for pointing Bruce Lee into the direction of greatness. Wing Chun is a system of thinking and is an attempt to cultivate only greatness, efficiency, and advanced logic in all scenarios of life. The easiest vehicle for discovery is found in classical Kung Fu training practices. Hope that this video provides a nice view point on the training of our forms and on the merits of using the Wing Chun Wooden Dummy.
